We're at our new home for the week. It is lovely and fancy but smells of potpourri. I'm so happy we're here. It's the best Chanukah present. Things are progressing well on our condo. Cabinets will come tomorrow. For now, we have space and light and comfy beds. Plus a kitchen and dining table. It's amazing how much easier life is when you have comfort.

Last night we managed to get some latkes and doughnuts and light candles and have a nice time. I also finally had that pumpkin pie! We finished Get Back. Now time to work!

Yesterday they came and ripped out the kitchen ceiling. All of it. Exposed are the old beams and nails and ducts and wires and mold. The room is swathed in and sealed in plastic. We moved out hurriedly and landed in the hotel. I had been planning it all week, but I didn't think it would happen yesterday. Next week they come back to do the bathroom. I don't know when we can return.

I took a walk this morning down Walnut Street, where I have never walked, to the cemetery. It's small but really interesting. The houses over there are beautiful. Boylston Street turning into a highway is Brookline's development tragedy. It will be fun to explore this part of town. The hotel has two outdoor patios which I hope to put to good use.

We saw another house today. Beautiful with amazing porch and patio space. Unfortunately, no dining room, few closets and a galley kitchen. Still, I'd rather look at these places than just fantasize. It feels like positive motion.
