DH and I walked at Leverett today. It was good to be in the woods again. Last night was Improv. Fun to go out on a Friday night. Don't tell. Getting ready to send Honey back to school tomorrow. Just like that it's over. She's congested and feeling tired. We're hoping it's just jet lag and maybe a little cold. Time to get ready for dinner, pho I think and some visual entertainment. And laundry.

I was joking with Violet on the way to school today about what our word for the year should be. I first said Survive but we amended it to Thrive. Let's go with that one. We got to school late but in good spirits. She is all caught up on work, thank heavens. The 504 meeting should be this week. 2.5 hours into the school day. So far so good. And so far, Honey is in Israel. I try to keep busy, but in the night I get worried. I decided that DH would be dispatched to go to the rescue if anything happened, though it will be painful. It's only seven more days before she comes back and I can freak out about the flight. And let us hope the new dosage keeps the lightning at bay.

We had a quiet weekend, since DH drove to JFK and back. Violet did homework and we walked a bit. Made soup and brownies. Saturday night we had pizza and watched Strange Worlds, which was great, and the Encanto live show, which was awesome. Last night we got sushi, using my father's gift card and watched the first half of Glory. Tough sledding. It was good being home and getting ready for the work/school week. Feeling stretched in many other ways so it's actually good to be here. Now.

Started the 30 day yoga challenge with Adriene. It's already taken me so far. I'm stronger, more flexible and comfortable in my body. Yasher koach.

It's been unseasonably warm here the past two weeks. We were wearing shorts over the weekend. Now it's back in the 50's where it belongs. Now we need a big rain. I wonder if people would be more concerned about climate change if the weather alteration was unpleasant. Now, we're just happy to go for a bike ride or even to the beach. In New England, in November. There is a closing down, a bundling up that I like about this month. October is so bright and busy. We've turned a corner now and the bright spot up ahead is snow.

We made it through show week with only a minor disruption. Sleep is our G-d now. Homework, tests, and more activities this week, but it's going to start winding down to Thanksgiving. We might head out to Noho to see colleges this weekend. Still hoping for normal. Our oven control broke, so that is going to cost a bundle. Happy to have Violet home for two days where I can keep an eye on her!

Quiet weekend because of the show and need to rest. We watched the first half of the Weird Al movie which is terrific. I walked Jamaica Pond on Saturday. LeVar Burton Reads is back! But each one is precious, as it's the last season.

It's my mother yahrzeit today. Feeling that it's the season, but that day doesn't mean much. An obligation. It is making me feel more unstable as I deal with the other crises. It's also Election day. A good time to lay low and lay off media.

I've started saying the serenity prayer. Any boat in a storm.

From the Greek "en demos", in the population. We learn to live with the threat. Put up the mosquito nets, swallow the fear until it becomes part of us.

Violet walked to school today. She's been studying hard and I'm proud of her. Only a few days left now. Honey saw EEAAO last night and enjoyed it. I would like to see it again.

I walked out to the Muddy this AM. I've got two big meetings today and I'm nervous and focused. Concerned that my new base level mood is "meh". Closed down. Shielded. Still surviving though.

First day of BHS today. Sent Violet off in her plaid pants and bomber jacket. Spent the morning looking for an electric tea kettle. I went to four places and finally found one on a pallet being delivered to a hardware store. Eureka!

Sun is out after some heavy rain. I need to get out and walk in the afternoon. Last night we had Dumpling Daughter and watched Friday Night Dinner and Only Murders in the Building, which was delightful. Little progress in other areas, but here we are.

Settling back into work. It's OK so far. Ramping up to full time will be a challenge for everyone, especially in our current circumstances.
