Snow

It started snowing last evening and when it fell it froze. Violet was at a friends house on top of Aspinwall Hill. We barely made it up there and on the way down, the car slid onto Beacon Street without stopping. A very treacherous drive to Dok Bua and then we were home. We watched Friday Night Dinner and Peripheral

Somehow we ended up with another late, stressful homework night. And I didn't manage to push back her weekend wake up time. Why are these things so hard? Why humans? I went out to the shops yesterday looking for a few more Chanukah things. I'm thankful to have Friday off to get everything ready and Honey to come home.

Thankful for the snow, which looks lovely now that I'm not trying to walk on it's icy residue. Weird twitch last night, likely the falling asleep myclonus but it scared me and then I couldn't sleep. Also, snoring. Well, I'm up, I'm fed and typing so let's see how it all goes. Gently into this good morning.

Another day of snow. Violet's rehearsal is online today. It's nice the kids will have some sledding time on their vacation. I got my hair cut yesterday. It's very short but I think it will grow out nicely. I'm surprised by how dark it is. Was it ever thus? I remember it would get reddish highlights in the sun.

Russia invaded Ukraine. Horrible and I hope NATO does all it can to stop it. But who knows? Social media is of course going bonkers and it's a good time to stay away. Focus on my monkeys and my circus. Biden has announced his new Supreme Court pick Ketanji Brown Jackson. Pandemic races on. That is all I'm going to say about the world today.

We watched Wheel of Time and Discovery last night. Reading Goliath is tough and hard going. I need an escape right now but I will muscle through Tochi's world. Thankful for the short week.

There came a big snow. There was a blizzard Saturday so we stayed inside all day. We did a puzzle and I made banana bread. Big 2020 energy. All the stores and restaurants were closed so DH made nachos for dinner. We watched a documentary on Laura Ingalls Wilder which was fascinating. Wheel of Time and a new show with Kristen Bell. Sunday was sunny and I got out for a long walk to the Muddy. We talked to Honey and did housework. Thai for dinner and we watched How to Succeed in Business which was wonderful. Violet's show was delayed a day because of lack of rehearsal. I really hope they can pull it off! Hopefully Honey will be flying in on Friday to see the show. Big week at work with MFA and the website. Big week for Violet. Bring it on February!

Resolve to be resilient. Next Monday, it will all be over.

SNOW DAY!

My spell worked! It started snowing last night and it's still going. School was cancelled. Another three days to let the people who were exposed on vacation to get symptoms and stay the fuck at home. I got up early to get to TJ's when it was empty. I had a lovely walk in the snow. The gray is covered with white. With hope.

Yesterday, the anniversary of the insurrection, was rough. It brought back the terror of that insane day and the sick realization that nothing has been done. I hope that the justice dept. is putting together a rock solid case that will land the scum in jail. Scum at ALL levels.

Last night I did some Masterclass and watched the final Witcher of Season 1. And then thought about it all night. It's funny that the dialog isn't that good but the story, mood and visuals are so well done.

Snow fall

Thanks to the blizzard, many of our meetings, classes and outings have been cancelled. It feels good. The weight of those obligations is sliding of my back like snow off a roof. This makes me reflect on how all those things stacked up in the first place and how I can reduce them in the future. Mostly the issue is that our lives with children are interlocking gears or Tetris pieces. If she is there and I need to be here, then you need to be here, except when the other she has that activity. We are very scheduled, even our pleasures and it feels good to have broken out of that, though we are surrounded by ponds of slush and mountains of snow.
