Since we couldn't make it to a movie tonight we decided to just go out for dinner. Inevitably, movies are at 4ish or 7ish. To make a 4 PM movie we have to be ready at 3 PM and 7 is too late for us to get the kids home to bed at a reasonable time. Tonight we decided to go to Allston, where ethnic restaurants abound. Our options were Korean, Afghani, Vietnamese, Japanese shabu and Indian. We went for the Shabu since Adam had never tried it before. We had fun creating our soup with mountains of vegetables and five kinds of tofu. It was wonderful to be out on the town on a Saturday night with the streets full of young people. It makes me so happy because this is one of the things I dream about doing. Going out and trying a new restaurant or cuisine each week. Trying new food. My brain feels charged up! It was one of those nights when I revel in my city life.
