Foggy Day in Midtown
Apr. 22nd, 2023 10:49 amWe're installed in the Courtyard (still haven't found one (is that like a cloister?)). Too near the elevator and NYC is too loud for me. I tried to hear it as an ocean of sound but the horns and sirens and random banging ruin the illusion. Not so much sleep last night. We're hanging out in the room this morning since we have a matinee.
Yesterday we came in and parked in the Village. We walked by NYU (27000 undergrads!) and then through Washington Sq park which was as crowded as a carnival. We had stale pretzels, walked through the Arch and then went in search of the Friends exterior. We saw the Stonewall memorial and the bar then back across to Veselka to meet the nephew for lunch. After the meal, which was pleasant, my stomach threatened doom so I got in a cab and came up to the hotel. It turned out OK. They went to the New School, got some Japanese treats and then came up. Dinner was tough. We ended up ordering delivery from a vegan thai place which was not great except for the soup, which was the whole point. We watched TV and chilled out, which was probably a good idea. We went out for a walk to Rockefeller Center, which lead us to Junior's, then theater district to say goodbye to Phantom, then the slog back home. Never again!
