Slip sliding away
Mar. 10th, 2021 09:16 amFinally some sleep. I went out for a walk, listening to Murakami's story The Second Bakery Attack. The weather continues to be warm for March and the sun is a blessing. Otherwise little to report. I ordered five pounds of matza, so at least we'll have that!
As for media, I watched a few I May Destroy You's. When I started, I thought it was going to be short, maybe six parts. Now I realize that it's a much longer story, but it's still compelling enough that I want to keep going. Interesting discussion around her working for a vegan food service. Her friends used the word "climateers" I think, to deride people advocating for environmental causes. I wonder if this is a common thing in the UK, or the Black community in the UK, and if similar feelings exist here in the US in the Black community. The main idea being that it's another way to control people and get power. Very challenging to my beliefs, which is a good thing I suppose. Not that the climate science is wrong, but that public perception can be very different. I was surprised to hear young, culturally liberal, educated people disparaging climate causes. Are they conservative in other ways? Is the movement part of white dom culture?
Violet is going for a walk with a friend. Very happy for her.
