Siren song

As I walked to work this morning, I thought about Amanda Palmer and her fans and what she gives us. Why are we so drawn to her? So many women in the audience. Some of us older, geeky and quite normal in appearance. What is the secret of this siren's song for us? What does her music unlock? The opening notes of Girl Anachronism unleashed a tidal wave of energy from the friendly, mild-mannered audience the other night. She is tapping into something that lies buried. How did it get submerged? How did Amanda grow up with the connection to it intact?

What I would be like if we cleared the shame away? Would power flow in? I watched my girls grow from fearless nakedness to nervous modesty. How can I help bring them out again? I would love to talk to Amanda's mother! When we say she is a force of nature, what does it mean?
